Day 7

We had to get up quite early to head back around the lake for breakfast (Pete’s again!) and to catch our bus to Bangor. We showered quietly in the farm house, hoping not to wake Eric who had got home late, and had more tea in their gorgeous life-full kitchen.

Just as we left the Cae Mabon orchard and headed onto the track back towards the head of the lake, Eric caught up with us. We thanked him for the warm hospitality we had received and he offered to show us some of the site. Although we needed to get back to Llanberis for the bus, and he couldn’t show us all of the site because it was in use by some guests, it was an offer too good to refuse.

He lead us down through the woods and to the boundary wall, pointing out the celtic round house that forms a focus for the site, and the barn and cob cottage. It’s certainly a place that demands a return visit, simultaneously exuding calm and energy, all within beautiful broadleaf woodlands.

We walked back along the path through the woods and around the lake, and after finding the bus-stop and checking the timetable decided we had time to head to Pete’s for breakfast. Once we’d walked along the High Street, ordered and got our food it was almost time to go, so we climbed on to the bus clutching our toastie sandwiches!

The bus wound its way through hills and villages, and eventually to Bangor - just in time for our train! We said goodbye to Daniel and Nick at Crewe, before continuing on to Birmingham, and finally, the end of a wonderful wild journey of exploration, emotion, challenge, fatigue, satisfaction and friendship.
